How to Enable the Ultimate Performance Power Plan on Windows 10

 

  1. Open the Start menu and type power options in the search bar. Click on Power & sleep settings option to proceed.

  2. Select Additional power settings in the Power & sleep settings to continue.
  3. Click on the down arrow to Show additional plans in the Power Options menu.
  4. Choose the Ultimate Performance power plan by checking the circle as this would immediately switch the plan.

Ultimate Performance Power Plan on Windows 10 Home and Pro

This power plan is not available by default on Windows 10 Home and Pro along with laptops due to limited battery power resources. However, you can still enable this feature if you wish to utilize every bit of performance from your PC and here’s how to do that.

Using Command Prompt:

  1. Open the Start menu and type cmd in the search bar. Right-click on the Command Prompt app and select Run as Administrator to proceed.
  2. Type the command below in the Command Prompt window and press Enter.

  3. The system will display the Power Scheme GUID and this would confirm that the changes have been successfully made. Now the Ultimate Performance power plan can be selected from the Power Options menu under the Show additional plans tab as Step 3 in Windows 10 Pro for Workstations.

Using Windows PowerShell:

  1. Open the Start menu and type powershell in the search bar. Right-click on the Windows PowerShell app and select Run as Administrator to proceed.
  2. Type the command below in the PowerShell window and press Enter.

This power plan on Windows 10 is not recommended for everyday usage as this would diminish the power efficiency of your PC especially if it is powered by a battery. Though It definitely can give you a head start in certain scenarios where you need that extra power.
